Moroccan Teachers’ National Strike Against State Violence

(From the Teacher Solidarity Network): Moroccan Teachers Strike Against State Violence. Moroccan teachers had a two-day strike this week (March 29-30) to protest state violence. Last week they demonstrated for an increase in benefits and pay (they currently earn only $370 per month). Police assaulted their demonstration, beating them with batons. 50 were hospitalized and one has died. Reuters reported that 165 were injured overall last week by police violence, with many broken bones and gashes.

According to the Syndicat national de l'enseignement (SNE-FDT), 95% of teachers participated in the strike (as reported on the Education International website).
