Massive Education Protest in Chile

Roughly 200,000 protesters took to the streets of Santiago, Chile, yesterday calling for more government support for public education, in one of Chile’s largest demonstrations since the fall of the dictatorship in 1990, according to Democracy Now. The only support the government provided was to business leaders, fearful over lost profits due to the disruption, by firing tear gas and water cannons at the protesters and arresting thirteen of them.
