Stealing Educational Services: OK for Corporations, Not For Poor Moms


While the Copley-Fairlawn school district spent $6,000 on a private dick to bust a poor black woman for “stealing” educational services for her daughters, corporate education plunderers have been defrauding the state of Ohio under cover of NCLB’s Supplemental Education Services (SES) clause. (see No Capitalist Left Behind for details on how SES is exploited). The question is will the state of Ohio go after these big time thieves?

Responding to the case of the Ohio mother who was convicted of a felony for illegally enrolling her children in a better district, Ohio community advocate and reader Kennedy Kent wrote with a follow-up to her earlier concerns about the misuse of funds under the tutoring provisions of NCLB.
